My World of Parkinsonian Delights

Wheee! I Have a Wii!!!

I’ve never really been the video game type.  Ever since Pac Man, video games have been too complicated for me.  Ya gotta remember stuff like which button to push while you hold the joystick in which direction and how fast you have to press the X button over and over again while the C button is used to shoot lasers and the Z and X button together will shoot bullets… and I just don’t have the memory for that crap.

So, looking for a toy on which to spend some of my bonus money — I settled on the Nintendo Wii!  Wheeeeee!  Not only is it NOT a complicated thing, since I’m a guy with Parkinson’s disease, it’s about as close to participating in active sports as I will ever be able to do again!

For instance, to bowl… you hold the controller, you raise your arm, you let the ball go, and boom!  Unfortunately, I bowl as well on the Wii as I do in real life.

Got a bunch of games to go along with it… including Madden 2010.  Believe it or not Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdowns in the practice quarter I played, while the Packers defense intercepted the Bears THREE TIMES!

This is good exercise for me.  I can stand or sit, but I work up a sweat by moving my arms around.

So, whee!  Fun!
